September 2009 (Pilot): View from the Top

Hi and welcome to View From The Top. Each month we will be asking members of the Revora hierarchy a number of questions related to both Revora and the wider world.

In this very first issue, answering the questions will be 2playgames, one of our two Network Leaders here at Revora. Nighthawk, our Command & Conquer Division Leader and {IRS}Athos, staff member for the Revora Magazine as well as Iceforge.

What would you consider to have been the biggest achievement at Revora in the past month and why?

2playgames -
Well, launching this magazine of course! No, really, I think the biggest achievement is that we got a good bunch of staff members who are qualified and dedicated. Indeed many of those are working for the magazine.
Nighthawk -
I'd also have to say getting this magazine off the ground is a good contender there. But I'd also have to say opening IceForge is a pretty good achievement - I admittedly was somewhat sceptical that it would take off here, but it's proved me wrong.
{IRS}Athos -
I feel so complimented... I'm part of both of our fabulous achievements. *Struck by divine retribution* I think that Nighthawk hit the nail on the head: in less than a month, IceForge already has quite a few regulars, some of which were stolen from and divided with T3A.

What are you currently working on?

Nighthawk -
Ah, several things recently. It somewhat jumps between reviewing the activity of the Guild's hostees, converting tutorials for use in the new Guild site, and planning a few surprises for after the new site is launched. My own mod crops up in the mix every now and then too, but my time for working on it has somewhat lessened.
{IRS}Athos -
Ha, who does work anymore? I mean... well... uh... basically, I'm hanging around, looking at Blizzard news every other day, and working on articles for Revora Magazine. I can see already that all of my responses are going to be rather boring...
2playgames -
Most of the time I'm busy leading, which means trying to see where Revora should be going and getting us to go in that direction. We have some very talented people as ingredients...I and DLotS try to make up the right mix. On the practical side of things I'm working on a new website for Revora, because as my good colleague said, you can look at our current frontpage for 5 minutes and still not know what Revora actually is (as a newcomer). I'm also helping DLotS with making the new CNC Guild site (by helping I mean bugging him continuously asking if it's done already, thereby providing so called "pressure" which is some kind of drug that Ill Phil needs to get working).

What changes would you make to improve Revora?

{IRS}Athos -
GIVE ME MORE POWER Ermmm... at the moment, I think that what we need is more activity in the RPG Frontier Ziggurat of Doom. It's my favoritest place...
2playgames -
I would (and we're going to) let more new people come here, with a different view on things. We really need a division in which modding is more than just Ini Hacking, as I call it.
Nighthawk -
To be fair, we do XML too! There's an eensy bit more to it than poking round INIs. Although I do agree with 2play on attracting more people here. Looking at our staff to member ratio, we could do with a few new folks around the place.

What has been your favourite film of this summer and why?

2playgames -
Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince. For one, I'm a HP fan and like all the films. This one is the best of all though. See my website (bartvh.nl) for an extended review
Nighthawk -
The Taking of Pelham 123. I remember seeing the TV movie of it years ago, and although that old movie starred Admiral Adama (Edward James Olmos to normal people), this new outing was (dare I say it) very good indeed. It makes a change from seeing John Travolta in those damn musicals.
{IRS}Athos -
Since UP is the only new movie I've seen this summer, it has to be my favorite. However, I actually did enjoy it quite a bit... I think the bit with the Cone of Shame was my personal favorite. As for HP6, my sister said that she liked it, even though she disapproved of the random added scenes.

Which film has been the biggest disappointment this summer?

Nighthawk -
Hehe, where do we begin. I'm sorely tempted to say Bruno... but it was so bad it was actually good. Maybe one of the endless spawns of the ageing High School Musical cast... but then again, for me to call them a disappointment would actually imply I thought they would be good.
Nah, probably GI Joe. I didn't go in with very high expectations, but the film just seemed to lack... well... a plot or story of any kind.
{IRS}Athos -
Who watches films? o_0 I saw UP and I was kind of disappointed that the little boy scout didn't get to meet his daddy at the end... and that the guy's wife died... but really, that's the only movie I've seen all summer.
2playgames -
I really only saw good films: Harry Potter, The Aviator and Finding Neverland.

What was the last album CD/Download that you purchased?

{IRS}Athos -
That was a really long time ago... it was the original cast recording of the French musical Notre Dame de Paris, featuring Bruno Pelletier, Helene Segare, Patrick Fiori, Daniel Lavoie, and Garou. Wait... on second thought, that was my sister... I just listened in.
2playgames -
The last music I bought was a Last.fm premium subscription, and that was a few months ago.
Nighthawk -
REM's album Accelerate, earlier in the week.

Which current mainstream artist/group do you dislike the most and why?

2playgames -
Anyone who makes the awful thing that I like to call "motherfucker rap" (it does not deserve the name of music). I dislike that so much that I wouldn't even know who makes that shit.
Nighthawk -
While I don't particularly like rap either, I'd have to go with Lady Gaga right now. All I keep hearing are people singing Pokerface to themselves... it gets a little irritating after a while. Plus, people keep asking me if she's a man. Because I obviously keep tabs on the transgender population, of course. lol.
{IRS}Athos -
I'm going to have to agree with 2play here. I despise rap... unless, of course, it's The Lonely Island's brand of spoof rap, in which case it's hilarious. I'll never forget "I'm On A Boat." *chuckle*

Earlier this year, Cheryl Cole was announced as FHM magazine's sexiest woman in the world. But which is hotter, Cheryl Cole or fire?

Nighthawk -
Oh, that's a tough one. Normally any time someone mentions WAGs, I get bored and leave the room. I'm afraid I'm going to have to go with fire on this one, better candidates come to mind than Cheryl Cole. Hmm... Megan Fox, perhaps. Although I could just be saying that because I saw Transformers recently.
{IRS}Athos -
Fire, obviously. Most humans have a body temperature of merely 98.6 degrees. But in order to combust... *goes off on a tangent*
2playgames -
Silly Athos...humans have a body temperature of 37 degrees.. Anyway, Cheryl is the most beautiful and fire the hottest.
